Art Condescensions is a series of slogans presented as posters and other possible printed or digital ephemera, that offer a cynical denial of common “art speak” statements and themes in contemporary art. Each poster/slogan addresses oft-used and misused art cliches that we repeatedly criticize (internally or privately) but rarely comment on. The purpose of this project is not to shame or otherwise embarrass other artists, but to throw common art terminology and concepts into relief against a voice of harsh skepticism, and perhaps breathe life into brain-dead art ideology. We are sure you can appreciate how difficult it is to write a statement about criticizing statements, so you can hopefully forgive the use of any unnecessary or redundant jargon. We are only humans, after all.
